I know I shouldn’t complain about our weather with all the horrible blizzard conditions out east, but most of the animals here are not fans of our muddy weather.
We’ve been damp and then rainy most of the weekend.
I guess my lone little buff duck is enjoying it.
So is this one silly hen.
I don’t know what she was trying to find, but she sure was scratching and digging in that puddle.

cute to see the hen looking for bugs or worms.
Feb 10, 2013 @ 18:01:38
I don’t know what she thinks she’ll find since the ground is frozen below all the mud and muck.
Feb 10, 2013 @ 18:33:10
That is so funny! I’ve never seen a chicken excited over a mud puddle. She must think she’s going to find something extras special!
Feb 10, 2013 @ 18:42:21
She was just scratching and scratching away!

Great reflection shots.

Thanks. The duck was happy to have a bit of water to play in. It’s been a while since she’s had a pool not frozen.

I think the hen is having an identity crisis. An intervention may be necessary.
Feb 11, 2013 @ 08:57:42
I guess that’s what happens when she lives with a duck.
Feb 10, 2013 @ 21:49:57
At least the ducks and hen were enjoying it–been raining here all day, supposed to be changing over to snow later.
Feb 11, 2013 @ 08:58:27
It’s even too muddy for the geese to truly enjoy it. It is good to fill up the lakes and ponds though. Hopefully we’ll get rain when it can sink in the ground and help with crops.

Your hen’s feathers are so colorful. I never realized they were iridescent like that. Of course, I have never seen a live chicken…in person.
We finally got some rain last night, but also got high winds that blew down trees and took roofs off some apartments and houses. I was sitting on the floor in my kitchen with my three dogs trying to calm them down at 3:30 this morning…they hate thunder and lightning. They are not fans of mud, either, and neither am I.
Feb 11, 2013 @ 08:59:05
Sorry to hear about all the damage. We’ve got winds too, but I don’t think it’s done any damage here.
Feb 11, 2013 @ 09:39:00
At least that sweet little duck is happy. The hen too, I guess!
Feb 11, 2013 @ 09:54:28
They both seemed to really be enjoying themselves!
Feb 11, 2013 @ 10:47:47
Very cute pictures ! I agree with the goats, I am not a duck !
Feb 11, 2013 @ 10:50:01
I’m not a fan of mud on ice. Very treacherous!

Thank you. They were really enjoying themselves.

Adorable critters!!
Feb 11, 2013 @ 14:01:31
Thanks. I’ve always been fond of my little ducks.
Feb 11, 2013 @ 13:45:04
Those farm birds are super. But, do you know what breed the hen is? I love her colors/feathers!!!!
Feb 11, 2013 @ 14:01:07
I wish I did. I got a variety of egg layers, and they weren’t identified. I do love her dark colors though.
Feb 11, 2013 @ 21:24:18
The duck looks very happy and content!! The raindrops are lovely too!
Feb 11, 2013 @ 21:27:35
It’s the first she’s had water to play in for a while, so she was really enjoying it. It’s back to frozen today.
Feb 11, 2013 @ 22:47:22
What a great post! Loved on the muddy shots
Feb 12, 2013 @ 06:40:41
Thanks. Our mud is all frozen again now.

Feb 12, 2013 @ 12:32:12
Too bad I’m not a duck then.
