Mid-Winter Doldrums

I think I’ve hit the time of winter that I don’t know what to blog about.  It seems like every picture I take is the same since most of our snow has melted.

The grass is brown and dead, and the trees are all dormant.

I can’t seem to get a picture of the goats without hay in their mouths.

It doesn’t help that the news is filled with with talk of our ongoing drought.  They are already talking about having to ration drinking water, and it makes the prospect of a good year for hay and crops look pretty slim.

Hopefully the rain in our forecast for the weekend will help bring me around.

oh, dear. had hoped the drought would life for the midwest this year. we had a break in texas in 2012, but the damage from 2011 still keeps us on a precarious perch for our lake that supplies our water…

Won’t the snow help with your lack of rain? When it melts, won’t that soak into the ground, and then the ground store that moisture for a while? That’s the reason I don’t listen to the news. My hubby does so we aren’t in the cold about everything, but I won’t listen because it depresses me. My own little world is perfect, and I hate hearing about how lousy things really are. I like pretending the world’s problems don’t exist….because there is absolutely nothing I can do about them anyway, but pray, and I do that without hearing the news!

Hugs…keep putting those “same” type pictures on your blog…and just blog about there’s nothing to blog about. We all feel that way some time or another. We love seeing your goats, your chickens, your trees, you fields, your dog…how is she by the way? We just need to know you and all your animals are taken care of.

Thank you. You are so kind. Stella is still eating her dog food in front of the deck, but she will come up on the deck a little bit, so it’s progress. The ground is frozen, so any rain will just run off. Most times when the snow melts, it runs off into the streams and rivers rather than soaking into the ground. It will help fill some of the reservoirs though.

I hope the rain you get is substantial! I guess every little bit helps…but if it could just soak in, it would be even better!

I wish we could blow our rain clouds down your way – drought will make things difficult for you this year. The forecasters have been wrong before – let’s hope they’re wrong this time.

Hope you get lots of good soaking rain soon. We are getting spits here and there, but I don’t know where it’s getting off to- most certainly not into my pond.

Water rationing?!? That’s not sounding very good! :( I hope you get some rain when it thaws out a bit so that it can soak in.
I’m in a bit of a blogging funk myself, everything outside is just so dull and boring…

Even though you may be drought ridden in your world, there is still a charm and beauty in these scenes so different from my peninsula world!

I was shocked to see how little snow you have Teresa. :( I hope you get some rain or snow and things improve.
