The Shape of the Flowers

We’ve had a couple of nights below freezing lately, and you can see the effects on the flowers.  The pretty bell-shaped hostas are wilting now.

The sunflowers have hung their heads.

Still, I think they are interesting to look at with their dome center and those petals spiking out.

This bee still seems to be enjoying it.

The exception is the mallow.  They were a bit more sheltered between buildings, and this one is still beautiful and opening. I love the way you can see a star around the center of the flower.

This one is a perfect circle.  I love the bevy of other shapes in the picture as well.

Just don’t ask me to identify all those shapes.

In case you can’t tell, the theme today at You Capture is shapes.

I felt like wilting today too, I was outside watching Jenna’s hockey game in the rain…brrrrrr! No frost yet here, but it’s soon coming!

I hate to see the pretty flowers go, but I am so happy to see fall’s arrival, at last!

As much as I love autumn I am sad to see the flowers fade. I’ve already started cutting the garden back in preparation for the colder weather. Your mallow flowers are still hanging on and are gorgeous.

They are usually the last to go. I’ve had them all the way to Thanksgiving some winters, and last year I don’t think we got cold enough to truly kill a couple of the plants.

It really is fall! We’re supposed to have frost/freeze again tonight. The mallow really do hang in a long time after the others have all been killed.
