Something I really love is Iowa in fall. When I was on my way home from work today, I got a call from my son wanting me to stop by the shop. I’m so glad he did.
I hate to cheat by just having the bird flying in front of a barn, so here’s a better view of the barn.
I love eagles. I love the old barns. I love beautiful leaves. Sorry, but I love seeing evil chicken-killing raccoons served up as lunch for said eagles that I love. I love my son for calling me and telling about this beautiful scene. I’m full of love today!

i am SO jealous on the eagle sighting and photos! love the fall colors, too, of course! and a good midwestern barn…
Oct 01, 2012 @ 18:29:36
I was pretty excited the eagle was still there by the time I got there. There’s nothing like a midwestern fall for beauty!
Oct 01, 2012 @ 18:19:26
Wonderful eagle sighting!
That’s a beautiful old barn.
Oct 01, 2012 @ 18:29:56
That’s the barn where my son and nephews live.
Oct 01, 2012 @ 18:35:04
I have never seen a bald eagle…..wow. I learn something new every time I visit. xo
Oct 01, 2012 @ 18:36:38
I don’t think I’d seen one around here until right about the time I bought my farm. I considered it a good omen at that time.
Oct 01, 2012 @ 18:38:22
That is something to behold. Glad you were able to capture this. Thanks for sharing. Have a great evening.
Oct 01, 2012 @ 19:19:59
Really, it was beautiful to see!
Oct 01, 2012 @ 18:44:52
Awesome eagle shots!! The barn ain’t to shabby, either.
I understand a family of osprey has taken residence at a local lake, but I have been unsuccessful at spotting any of them. You’ve inspired me
Oct 01, 2012 @ 19:20:40
I really got lucky with the raccoon on the road right where my son lives and hangs out. Hope you can catch the osprey.
Oct 01, 2012 @ 18:52:14
Thats a great set of pictures – nice to have a extra pair of eyes looking for photo ops! Road kill is often a great location for predators – my last “find” like this was a large ( 4ft?) lizard eating a road kill wallaby.

There were a couple of vultures flying really high, but I think they must have known the eagle had staked its claim.
Oct 01, 2012 @ 19:06:01
beautiful trees against the barn! can’t wait for the leaves to turn here in Tennessee!
Oct 01, 2012 @ 19:21:50
The leaves have been very beautiful these last few days. Not a lot of reds, but the golds are just beautiful!
Oct 01, 2012 @ 19:25:42
I love that barn…. miss it!
Oct 01, 2012 @ 20:17:02
It is a beautiful one. I really like the new roof.
Oct 01, 2012 @ 19:26:01
Awesome pictures!
Oct 01, 2012 @ 20:17:16
Thanks! It was pretty cool to watch.
Oct 01, 2012 @ 20:02:09
WOW!! What a great photo op! That is such a magnificent eagle and I’m glad he gets to enjoy that stinkin’ chicken killin’ raccoon! Nice barn too!!
Oct 01, 2012 @ 20:18:09
I’d love to provide him with more raccoons.
Oct 01, 2012 @ 20:22:45
Lovely Fall colors!
Oct 01, 2012 @ 21:27:27

Oct 01, 2012 @ 21:27:56
They really are impressive birds!
Oct 01, 2012 @ 21:28:13
great shots of the eagle…he has to eat also and looks like he wants to clean up the area for us….love the barn also…thank you for visiting my blog while I was away, I really appreciate it
Oct 01, 2012 @ 21:29:46
I’m very happy for the eagle to get rid of the raccoons.
Oct 01, 2012 @ 21:31:28
Wow, I’m looking at those photos thinking – is that really an eagle sitting by the side of the road? I have never been that lucky. The only shots I have of eagles, look like little spots in the sky. Very nice!
Oct 01, 2012 @ 21:33:19
You just need to hang out near road kill.
I was really surprised he didn’t take off when we were that close.
Oct 01, 2012 @ 21:40:16
WOW!
The barn is nice – the eagle is amazing!
Oct 01, 2012 @ 21:41:12
Thanks. It was beautiful!
Oct 01, 2012 @ 22:01:11

Oct 01, 2012 @ 22:08:02
It was perfect! Life doesn’t get any better than this!

Oct 02, 2012 @ 06:41:10
With a little help from my son! It really was lucky, and I can’t believe he flew down while we were that close.
Oct 02, 2012 @ 02:35:23
Beautiful colors! I think it would be easier to appreciate the fall with all those colors! And how awesome to see an eagle that close
Oct 02, 2012 @ 06:41:25
I do love the colors of fall!
Oct 02, 2012 @ 05:12:33
I’d be beside myself to see both the eagle and this barn. Wonderful!
Oct 02, 2012 @ 06:41:54
I’m used to seeing the barn, but the eagle with the fall colors was truly a treat.
Oct 02, 2012 @ 05:58:15
ohhhh gorgeous eagle!! we used to see them all the time when we lived in missouri….i never see them here though
Oct 02, 2012 @ 06:42:15
It used to be unusual to see them here, but I see more all the time.
Oct 02, 2012 @ 06:09:42
that is so wonderful. what a great sighting. i’ve seen one at a much greater distance … not that close. & right near a barn. such a keeper!! (:
Oct 02, 2012 @ 06:42:34
Truly it was my lucky day!
Oct 02, 2012 @ 06:59:06
You have captured some fabulous images!!! Wow, that eagle is gorgeous! I am with you Barns and Eagles are the best. Not so much with the raccoons.
Oct 02, 2012 @ 07:09:33
It really was beautiful to see him flying~a perfect little slice of America!
Oct 02, 2012 @ 07:47:22
The law of nature ! The killers are killed by other killers etc …
Oct 02, 2012 @ 07:58:14
Eat or be eaten. That’s truly the way it works. Of course, the whole road kill thing adds a new dimension to the equation.
Oct 02, 2012 @ 08:40:04
I, for one, am delighted that you’re sharing the love w/ Barn Charm! BEAUTIFUL! I love eagles, too, & the fall colors there are absolutely gorgeous! Tell your son ‘Thank You’ from all of us here at Barn Charm, too =)
