By the time I get home from work, the goats have already gone out for their evening browse.
There are a lot of these bushes and berries in the wood lot. I don’t know what they are?
Any ideas?
The goats spend a lot of time by the back fence. It’s where there’s still the most grass.
Unfortunately, Barbie found a little spot to get through the fence. Luckily her maa has a big mouth. We heard her holler, and I went to rescue her.

Love the first photo especially – the lighting is wonderful!
Sep 27, 2012 @ 20:11:25
That’s the only thing. I’m home just in time for that lovely golden light.
Sep 27, 2012 @ 20:13:47
fall has arrived on the farm. i love the 1st shot. (:
Sep 27, 2012 @ 20:50:14
Thanks. It really is getting beautiful!
Sep 27, 2012 @ 20:17:25
saw these on another blog and they called ‘em honeysuckle bush berries.
Sep 27, 2012 @ 20:50:26
Thanks! I’ll have to look those up.
Sep 27, 2012 @ 20:37:29
It seems like these short days have snuck up on us all of a sudden. Pretty soon the kids will be getting on the school bus in the dark!
Sep 27, 2012 @ 20:54:18
I’m already milking just before the sun comes up in the morning. Soon it will be dark both times of milking.
Sep 27, 2012 @ 23:33:52
That first shot is beautiful.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 06:46:19
Thanks. I always think it’s beautiful out there, but I do love it in the evening light even better.
Sep 27, 2012 @ 23:40:09
The days pass so quickly now and dark happens too soon, sigh… Maybe it’s time to order one of those “sunlight” lamps…
Pretty berries, whatever they are.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 06:46:41
I’ll really be wanting one of those around the first of February.
Sep 27, 2012 @ 23:43:53
Not sure what the berries are, but your photos of them are great. As are the shots of the goats. Always love stopping by and seeing your little critters and farm photos!
Sep 28, 2012 @ 06:47:05
Thanks. We enjoy everyone stopping by to share our beautiful world.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 02:34:31
I’m thinking that top pic must be what Heaven looks like…………
Sep 28, 2012 @ 06:47:24
Well, I wouldn’t disagree with that.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 05:54:02
Wonderful fence and goat photos. The first one is beautiful. And I’m not liking the shorter days either.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 06:47:46
It’s just too hard to get out and enjoy the beauty in these shorter days.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 07:13:13
I love that we are going into Fall…but hate the shorter days…
Sep 28, 2012 @ 07:15:04
I’m still wishing for rain. This drought just won’t let go, so my fall has let me down so far.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 07:14:29
sorry…i forgot to change my link in the above comment!
Sep 28, 2012 @ 07:16:08
No problem. That’s the price we pay for so many on-line identities.
It’s a miracle we ever know who we are.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 07:23:39
I wasn’t ready for the shorter days either- it just means time is moving too fast. I love this season but it always leaves in such a hurry- then dreary winter sets in.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 08:12:27
I usually love fall too, but this year it is just filled with dust and allergens and I am ready for a real winter.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 08:05:49
I wish we could have fall without the shorter days!!!
Sep 28, 2012 @ 08:12:48
Long beautiful fall days would be perfect!
Sep 28, 2012 @ 08:10:11
they are all beautiful but i really, really love that first photo!
Sep 28, 2012 @ 08:13:13
Amazing how the goats are always my best pictures.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 08:46:51
I second the Honeysuckle idea. There is a vine type and the bush type. Very invasive. If the goats can eat it you’re golden. I’ve got it at my place and it’s everywhere. You are suppose to be able to kill it with Roundup….if you are so inclined.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 10:55:41
The goats seem to be eating it, which is one reason I wanted to know what it is.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 10:49:58
That could also be a winterberry holly, which is not invasive. Check out this image at: http://georgeweigel.net/plant-of-the-week-profiles/flowering-shrubs/winterberry-holly-winter-red
Sep 28, 2012 @ 10:56:08
I will check this out, but I do believe invasive is a good word to describe it.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 13:44:35
Oh, we used to have goats…they were so much fun. I wonder how they’d do with horses…..hmmm.
Enjoyed my visit…have a great weekend.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 13:51:04
Glad you enjoyed your stop. I’d guess it would depend on the horse and the goat.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 14:39:23
At least you have your goats to cheer you up ! I also hate when the days are getting shorter, the trees do their striptease and it’s cold !
Sep 28, 2012 @ 20:33:53
I love the way you’ve described the trees losing their leaves!
Sep 28, 2012 @ 19:29:23
It is getting dark so early now — after Daylight Savings Time, there won’t be much sunlight after 6 pm. I thought those might be chokecherries, but not positive.
Sep 28, 2012 @ 20:34:42
I looked at pictures, and I do think it is the honeysuckle bush. I just saw something on the news about these invasive bushes, but didn’t pay attention to them.
Sep 30, 2012 @ 01:53:44
Fabulous photographs….especially the goats. Love ‘em! PS It looks like honeysuckle.
Sep 30, 2012 @ 07:40:30
Thanks. I have decided it is the honeysuckle. I’d only ever seen the vining honeysuckle before.
Oct 02, 2012 @ 09:22:18
Wonderful photos!
Oct 02, 2012 @ 10:25:53
Thank you. I have a lot of fun walking back there and taking pictures.
