The You Capture challenge for today is Flowers. Boy, it was a challenge this drought plagued fall. I do have some small sunflowers still blooming.
A couple of hostas still have blossoms.
I hit the motherload with this. I don’t know what it is, but the bees just loved these little flowers!
Maybe I’ll quit pulling them as weeds.

i believe those are asters. that’s what we get here.
Sep 17, 2012 @ 14:11:41
Thanks! I certainly think they will be allowed to grow and bloom from now on.
Sep 17, 2012 @ 14:31:00
wow, gorgeous sunflowers. i love the views. flowers always make me smile. (:
Sep 17, 2012 @ 14:33:06
The sunflowers are always so cheerful!
Sep 17, 2012 @ 14:38:52
There aren’t many blooming flowers left around here- lovely shots!
Sep 17, 2012 @ 14:48:12
I really did have to work hard to find some flowers!
Sep 17, 2012 @ 14:56:28
Amazing photos. Love the flowers. You did hit the mother load!
Sep 17, 2012 @ 14:59:22
Thanks. I love playing with the different settings on the camera. Some day I might get brave enough to try manual settings.
Sep 17, 2012 @ 17:23:29
Great captures. The bee shots are really cool!
Sep 17, 2012 @ 17:24:55
Thank you. I’m glad the bee was so into the flowers and didn’t notice me!
Sep 17, 2012 @ 19:11:08
I love the shots! Me and mom look.at are flowers. Pathetic, dry, brown flowers.
Sep 17, 2012 @ 19:49:23
The drought has really been hard on all the flowers. Hopefully, we’ll have a more normal year next year.
Sep 17, 2012 @ 17:25:09
Lovely shots. I like the processing you did on the third hosta.
Sep 17, 2012 @ 17:26:52
Thanks. I actually did very little to it. I just got lucky.
Sep 17, 2012 @ 19:09:07
Oh I love the black background on that purple one, and the bees! I had a hard enough time finding flowers, let alone little bees! Great job, they are so pretty
Sep 17, 2012 @ 19:49:00
The bees were just swarming those little flowers! It was just luck I decided to check out that side of the house.
Sep 17, 2012 @ 20:26:01
Pretties!!!! :O)
Sep 17, 2012 @ 21:16:15
And to think I thought they were weeds!
Sep 18, 2012 @ 05:04:46
Very nice sunflowers – and (predictably for me) I like the stray beetle that has popped up in the edge of the flower.
The flight back was a real drag – and a late night Polish wedding was not the best way to recover from jet lag!

Those bugs truly love the flowers. It would be hard to get a picture without one popping up. Sounds like you needed another day off just to recover!

Sunflowers, hostas and,.. asters. There are so many varieties of asters that I haven’t a clue as to which ones they are. They must be loaded with pollen as bees LOVE them!
Sep 18, 2012 @ 06:51:48
The bees were just swarming everywhere around them. I’m certainly going to leave them from now on. Glad you could tell me what they are.
Sep 18, 2012 @ 09:46:13
Your shots make bumble bees almost look cuddly!…..almost! Beautiful captures.
Sep 18, 2012 @ 10:45:50
They didn’t seem to mind me, but I don’t think I’ll try to give them a hug.
Sep 18, 2012 @ 11:32:52
I know what you mean….unless you waste tons of water, the blooms almost everywhere are drying up…but you seem to have found some real beauties….
Sep 18, 2012 @ 11:40:11
It’s hard to tell, but the sunflowers are tiny, and the hostas don’t have near as many blossoms as usual. I’m glad to have a few flowers around yet.
Sep 18, 2012 @ 13:09:04
I love the sunflower shots. I love them and I haven’t seen any around here. I’m impressed that you have hostas in bloom still…my blooms died out long ago. I wonder now if I am doing something wrong. Great processing on the flowers with the bees!
Sep 18, 2012 @ 13:29:26
This has been such a weird year weatherwise. My hostas didn’t have blooms during the worst of the heat and drought, and now that we’ve had a bit of rain, they finally bloomed.
Sep 18, 2012 @ 15:28:17
It does look like some sort of aster, doesn’t it? Love all the shots! You are so talented. Sadly we aren’t seeing many bees now, since the Fireweed and Lavender are no longer in bloom.
Sep 18, 2012 @ 17:12:07
You are too kind. Have you had the chance to do much playing with your new camera? It really is a lot of fun.
Sep 19, 2012 @ 19:45:08
Pretty Flowers…….. Your pics are always beautiful.
Sep 19, 2012 @ 19:48:29
Thanks. You are a pretty good photographer yourself! I love your critter pictures.
Sep 20, 2012 @ 00:33:34
Evidently I got so caught up with your goat stories and pictures that I didn’t appreciate what a gifted photographer you are. Although I like the busy bee and flower pics, the sunflowers and hosta blooms really showcased your talent. Nice!!!

I consider that quite the compliment! I really do love photographing the world around me on the farm. I’ve just recently started editing them.
