Last night when I was out fixing fence, I happened across a swallowtail butterfly sitting on a thistle.
It didn’t stay long though.
I took my soaps to the farmer’s market again tonight, so I’m late getting my post up. I’ll try to be more organized next week.

I just capture what they do naturally.

It’s nice when everything works out for a pretty capture.
Aug 25, 2012 @ 11:07:06
How pretty!

Aug 25, 2012 @ 11:35:37
Wow – utterly gorgeous!
Aug 25, 2012 @ 12:04:58
I do think they look very nice on those thistles.
Aug 25, 2012 @ 11:46:18
So beautiful! I rarely manage to capture photos of butterflies as the ones in my garden don’t tend to stop still long enough!
Aug 25, 2012 @ 12:05:28
This one was awfully cooperative. It’s nice when you find one so happy in eating they don’t even notice you.
Aug 25, 2012 @ 12:36:54
the 2nd photo looks amazing, as the butterfly’s ‘legs’ go straight back…
Aug 25, 2012 @ 15:33:34
I was amazed that I caught it as well as I did. Certainly lots of room for improvement, but it was interesting.
Aug 25, 2012 @ 13:09:04
Looks like he was waiting just for you to come along! Beautiful!
Aug 25, 2012 @ 15:33:54
I think enjoying the flower was more on his mind than a photo shoot!
Aug 25, 2012 @ 13:17:57
You have to be quick on the shutter yo catch most butterflies…and you were!
Aug 25, 2012 @ 15:34:49
I think I have to give credit to the camera rather than the photographer.
Aug 25, 2012 @ 13:57:14
If there is such a thing as a perfect composition, I think you’ve managed to do it in BOTH images!!!

Thank you; however, you are too kind.

I’ve been enjoying beautiful butterflies on my lil farm too… I just love to watch them glide/float through the air, so peaceful
Aug 25, 2012 @ 21:20:50
I love them! We haven’t had many this year, so when I’ve been lucky enough to spot them, I really beg them to pose for me.
Aug 25, 2012 @ 23:00:38
Captured so beautifully. Hopping by from Camera Critters.
My Critter post, come and see when you get a chance.
Have a lovely Sunday!
