I will see an occasional hummingbird around my place, but they never sit still long enough for me to get a picture. I took my dad up on his offer to come visit and take pictures at his house.
He has a lot of well fed hummingbirds around his place.

they’re so much fun to watch.
Aug 18, 2012 @ 19:07:09
I might have to get one of those feeders and actually wash my windows.
Aug 18, 2012 @ 19:04:42
Hummingbirds are so hard to find at our house…only once did I see one at my butterfly bush, and at first I thought it was a large bee!
Aug 18, 2012 @ 19:07:37
I had one buzzing me in the pasture one evening. It took me a bit to realize it was a bird and not a big dragonfly.
Aug 18, 2012 @ 19:09:11
What great photos. Nice feeder, too. xo
Aug 18, 2012 @ 19:22:33
He has two of those feeders, and they are usually swarming with hummingbirds.
Aug 18, 2012 @ 19:38:36
wow! ~ love the next to the last shot and others are excellent ~ (A Creative Harbor) on Blogger
Aug 18, 2012 @ 19:52:45
Thanks. It was a nice way to spend a bit of time with my dad.
Aug 18, 2012 @ 19:54:37
Good excuse to spend some time with pops- and you got some great shots. I am still trying to get mine to sit still for me…HA!
Aug 18, 2012 @ 20:36:15
These were pretty good, but it still took me a lot of trying to get any decent shots.
They are fast!
Aug 18, 2012 @ 20:08:56
Aren’t they fun? I just love the little pair I have nesting in the crepe myrtle in my back yard. You did good to get so many different poses from them.
Aug 18, 2012 @ 20:36:45
Thanks. It took a lot of work, but they were very cooperative. It would be so fun to see them nesting.
Aug 18, 2012 @ 21:53:39
Great series of photos. Wish I could se those small birds alive but over here they are not even in zooligic gardens ;.(
Aug 18, 2012 @ 21:58:11
They really are amazing to watch as quickly as they can move.
Aug 18, 2012 @ 22:58:57
Nice group of photos. I love those enchanting little birds.
Aug 18, 2012 @ 23:05:13
I don’t see many around my place, but they are always at my dad’s house. It was fun.
Aug 19, 2012 @ 02:49:27
Love watching the humming birds. Mine chase each other. They will not feed at the feeder together. Your photos are amazing showing the little bird so clearly and close up.
Aug 19, 2012 @ 07:26:48
My dad said there is one that is pretty protective and will chase others away from the feeder.
Aug 19, 2012 @ 04:48:34
Do you know why humming birds hum?
Because they don’t know the words!
Arr! Arr! Arr!
(nice shots-especially the one in-flight!)
Aug 19, 2012 @ 07:27:09
Arr! Arr! Love the slapstick comedy!
Aug 19, 2012 @ 05:05:25
Fabulous captures! I love these little birds.
Aug 19, 2012 @ 07:27:37
They are pretty neat. Of course your shot is just amazing compared to the SOOC ones I have.
Aug 19, 2012 @ 05:24:39
Wonderful hummingbird shots. You have a graceful hummingbird next to slender, colorful feeder.
Aug 19, 2012 @ 07:28:00
Thanks. This is the first time I’ve photographed them.
Aug 19, 2012 @ 07:28:24
Great shots Teresa! Love the second to last midflight capture!!
Aug 19, 2012 @ 07:47:38
Thanks. There were several of them that were enjoying the freshly filled feeders.
Aug 19, 2012 @ 07:36:39
What a tricky thing, to photograph them! Well done!
Cheers from Cottage Country!
Aug 19, 2012 @ 07:47:56
Thanks. This was my first try, so I’m sure I’ll be back again.
Aug 19, 2012 @ 08:04:11
Love these little critters…it would be worth your while to get a feeder at your place…I put one out every spring n hummers visit several times a day!!!
Aug 19, 2012 @ 09:15:03
I’m horrible about filling the feeders I do have. Then I need to wash all the kitty nose prints off the window so I can focus through it. I really do need to though.
Aug 19, 2012 @ 11:55:53
Great shots of the beautiful birds.
Wish we could see them here.
Aug 19, 2012 @ 12:37:01
Thanks. They really are fun to watch.
Aug 19, 2012 @ 11:57:59
Oh! What kind are those? Black chinned? They are very different than the ones we have!
Aug 19, 2012 @ 12:37:45
I have no idea what kind they are. One has a red throat. One was a lot finer bodied. I am not very good at identifying birds.
Aug 20, 2012 @ 00:26:45
The hummer in flight shot is awesome! Those are really hard to capture.
Aug 20, 2012 @ 06:41:41
Thanks. This was my first effort. I do think I’ll try and get a feeder myself by next summer.
Aug 20, 2012 @ 03:59:41
Lovely shots, especially the second to last pic. We don’t have hummingbirds here. Maybe that’s why the seem so magical to me.
Aug 20, 2012 @ 06:41:58
They seem magical here too. They are quite fascinating.
Aug 20, 2012 @ 07:29:45
Hummingbirds are the little jewels of the bird family, aren’t they? Especially like the pic of this one in flight. Dad needs to keep on doing whatever he does to keep these welcome guests visiting.
Aug 20, 2012 @ 10:38:03
They are very well fed little birds!
Aug 20, 2012 @ 09:17:54
How pretty!!
Aug 20, 2012 @ 10:38:14
Thank you!
Aug 20, 2012 @ 14:16:47
Amazing pictures! I have never seen a hummingbird in the wild, so it was a special gift for me.
Aug 20, 2012 @ 15:24:05
I’ve never seen as many as my dad has. They are positively fighting over the feeders.
Aug 20, 2012 @ 21:04:12
I love watchin the hummers on my lil farm… such a sweet summer treat
Aug 20, 2012 @ 21:32:24
I see them occasionally, but without a feeder for them, they never stick around long enough for me to get the camera. I definitely want a feeder by next summer.
