I talk about my barn all the time, but I don’t think I’ve ever given a real tour, so I thought I would today since the theme at You Capture is things that start with b. Things like barn. Here’s the front. It’s divided into three sections.
On the left is one of the areas the goats get. The open doorway is the one at the front of the barn.
Right now I am trying to get it cleaned out before winter, so I have some tools of the trade. You can see by the stanchion, this was originally a dairy barn.
There are two of these mangers with two separate places to put grain~feed bunks.
On the right side of the barn is where the birds are. It might not look very pretty, but the pen gives them quite a bit of room, and it keeps them safe from predators.
Beyond the birds is a small lean-to that I can house a few goats in. Of course, this is a favorite nesting place of geese.
In the middle, is a large open area that is used to store hay.
You can come on in and see what it looks like inside. There’s an old latch to keep the door from blowing open.
We have quite a few bales in there, but I still need to add more before I’m ready for winter.
It is a sturdy barn with solid beams holding the roof up.
From the back you can see the cattle lean-to that was added on at some point. The goats get this section also.
There is a big door between the two parts that the goats have as their home. Myson, my bottle baby, is showing you what a big goat he is now.
You might also find some young bucks running around. These are Mortie and Ferdie, Sugar’s twins.
Every so often my little Bob cat goes running through.
He likes to hunt in the barn much to the annoyance of the birds.
Finally, if you’re in the barn, my lovable friendly wether Bud is likely to show up.
This really is about all there is to see in my barn. Hope you enjoyed the tour.

the rafters and the hay pile bring back lots of good memories from my youth – lots of hours spent in the hay mow w/ cats and kittens when i was little.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 17:21:44
We had just a little barn on my mom’s acreage, but I loved it out there!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 17:17:57
I love it. Hoping to build one soon. Our goats have their shelter but would really love a barn like this.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 17:22:50
I do love the setup of my barn. When I moved here, I would never have guessed that I could use every single space in it. It had a lot of junk when I moved in.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 17:18:30
Oops that last comment was from me

Cute tour of the barn with all the other B’s thrown in!
Ah, to have a real barn must be heavenly…
Aug 13, 2012 @ 18:16:22
I absolutely love my barn! It’s hard to believe that there are many times it seems too small. I am finally getting it set up so that I can have separate areas for kidding or other things just by swinging a cattle panel in place. I love knowing that they have a big place for shelter and to walk around even in bad weather.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 17:52:33
Thanks for the barn tour…it’s fun to see “the big picture”. Love that shot of the baby birds!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 18:16:49
Thanks. There have been so many little barn swallows this year!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 18:24:49
T’is an awesome barn! Thanks for the tour!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 19:47:48
I think it’s pretty wonderful!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 18:25:37
I really enjoyed this tour…always love seeing the inside and even better that it is actually your very own barn.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 19:48:08
Thanks. It’s really nice inside with all the native lumber.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 18:28:18
I really enjoyed the tour, especially being able to see the inside of the barn! My daughter and I both loved the animals, too. I liked them all, but her favorite was the “butterscotch” cat.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 19:48:39
Bob is very full of personality.
Glad you stopped by.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 18:43:32
Yes, I did enjoy the tour, Teresa! Thank you! Now I have a bigger picture for when you tell us about your animals, especially the goats.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 19:48:58
It really does give them quite a bit of space to call home.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 19:04:38
What a great tour – I felt like I was walking through the barn with you! Thanks for sharing part of your life with us!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 19:49:19
It’s my pleasure. I love sharing my life on the farm. I’m glad you stopped by.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 19:08:41
I love seeing that shot of the rafters! Well…also the goats and kitty. A very nice tour!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 19:49:39
Thanks. I’m always amazed by the workmanship in the old barns.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 19:16:49
Thanks for the tour. It brought back memories from when I was a kid and used to play in the haymow at my cousins farm. Spent many happy hours there.
Love the photos of your goats!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 19:50:10
Glad you enjoyed the tour. We just had a small barn when I was growing up, but I used to spend hours out there with the pony.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 19:27:32
I love the picture of the latch!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 19:50:41
They really are great latches, but some of the doors have begun to sag and don’t properly work anymore.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 19:49:45
you have a great barn!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 19:51:05
I do love it. It’s set up really well.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 20:14:40
I really enjoyed this tour! I grew up on a farm and felt like I was going back in time. Cute goats too!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 20:57:19
Glad you enjoyed the tour. It’s always fun to relive those days of old.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 20:15:08
Awww, the baby birds are SO sweet! Hope the cat doesn’t find them. :/
Aug 13, 2012 @ 20:55:17
We’ve had a lot of barn swallows grow up and leave the nest this year.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 20:20:52
You’ve got a very versatile and solid barn there! No doubt the animals find it to their liking. Love the roof above the hay storage!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 20:55:58
It really is great! I try to make sure they have plenty of room to be happy.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 20:40:35
I loved seeing your barn, Teresa! It looks large to me and your goats looks very happy living there. I really loved the photo of the baby birds with their mouths open…lol..every mother can relate to that!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 20:56:31
I kind of felt bad because every time I took a picture, the flash made them open their mouths for food. Poor babies.
Aug 13, 2012 @ 21:55:11
Oh my goodness, that was fun! Thanks so much for the tour!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 22:00:46
Glad you stopped by to join us for the tour!
Aug 13, 2012 @ 23:05:46
You may envy me my tractor but I envy you for having a barn. Oh how I miss the one Dad had when we were growing up.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 06:11:17
The barn is nice. I guess if I had to choose, I’d keep the barn. It’s a lot easier to borrow a tractor.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 07:13:41
How neat to get a tour of your goaties’ and birdies’ crib. Lol. Wonderful images.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 07:17:00
Thanks. They do also have a couple of other shelters, but this is the big house, so to speak.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 07:29:22
I loved the tour and all the animal shots. You really rocked this challenge! What a great and interesting post….not to mention fabulous pictures!!
Aug 14, 2012 @ 08:59:49
Thanks. It was fun to do the tour. I adore my animals, so this was fun.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 08:32:47
I love the interior shots. It looks like such a sturdy, cozy haven for your menagerie.
Bud would make a great greeter – such a sweet looking goat.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 09:00:41
Bud is really funny. He would be the best greeter.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 09:02:57
Great photos, especially the little birds squalling!
Aug 14, 2012 @ 16:07:53
They’ve given me plenty of opportunities this year. There have been many baby barn swallows this summer.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 09:28:03
With that drought, that hay is going to be worth it’s weight in gold!
Aug 14, 2012 @ 16:08:15
Yes, and I will be buying some too.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 10:05:34
I enjoyed the tour very much…your animals are lucky to call this nice barn..home!
Aug 14, 2012 @ 16:08:51
Thanks. I do like it. I feel like they have plenty of room and pretty good protection from the elements. Of course, I’ll do plenty of winterizing.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 10:15:30
Fantabulous barn tour! We don’t get to see the inside of very many barns, so it’s always a treat when someone takes us on a virtual tour! Love all the faces there are to see in your barn, too!
Thanks so much for joining in! =)
Aug 14, 2012 @ 16:09:30
I figured this week I could join here with my farm blog instead of my photography one. I’m sure I’ll be back to other people’s barns next week.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 10:32:06
Your barn is beautiful. The geese posed beautifully for you shot.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 16:09:55
I can’t seem to take a picture here without getting a goose in it somewhere. Really.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 12:11:11
Thank you for the tour! What a blessing of a place you have! I so want to have goats and chickens at our next place!
Love that bottle baby–so cuuute!
Terrific set-up.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 16:10:38
It really is a nice place. I have to say I adore my little Myson. He’s awfully sweet. I hope you manage to get your place with a barn for chickens and goats. That is a great lifestyle.
Aug 14, 2012 @ 18:24:05
Delightful post! Thanx for the tour….
Aug 14, 2012 @ 18:37:15
So glad you enjoyed our little tour!
Aug 15, 2012 @ 08:45:43
Loved the tour… I really want a barn.
Aug 15, 2012 @ 17:09:21
It is wonderful to have a barn. I don’t think there’s any way to make up for the shelter and storage they provide.
Aug 15, 2012 @ 17:08:24
Thanks so much for the tour. Myson is such a handsome fellow and your barn is wonderful!
Aug 15, 2012 @ 17:11:37
I truly adore my Myson.
Aug 15, 2012 @ 23:39:26
I did enjoy the tour! It’s great to see the inside of a barn as well as the outside.
Aug 16, 2012 @ 06:17:50
Thanks. I had fun doing the tour.
Aug 20, 2012 @ 20:18:16
Thanks for a tour of your lovely barn. That’s a nice set-up you have for the birds/fowl. I was smitten with your goats in the header.
Aug 20, 2012 @ 20:55:42
My goats are my sweeties. My dad and grandpa and I built the pen for the birds. I love that I can keep them safe.
