Indoor Gardening

Since my outdoor garden is not very big and the heat is keeping the little bit that is planted from being very productive, I decided to try some indoor herb gardening to get my garden fix.

A nursery nearby had all their potted plants on sale for 50% off.  This might be why~they are very root bound because they should have been repotted about two months ago.

I picked out my pots and started giving them some real dirt.

I also planted a whole tray of calendula seeds.  I want to harvest the flowers to use in my soap.  They’re called pot marigold, so they should do well in pots in the house.

All of the herbs are now sitting in my kitchen in a nice sunny location.

Hopefully, my indoor garden will do well.

I have to say the plants have been rather neglected with all the high needs of the animals this summer. Hopefully we’re past that, and I can give them the care they need.

Nice… keep us posted on how it goes. I’ve been wondering about growing a basil plant inside.

How fun! New plants and seedlings are exciting. I have those same calendula seeds I am going to plant late fall. I am hopeful to get these to take my other attempts haven’t worked out.. Its hot here for calendula it does much better in the late fall and winter here actually. Seems just a little heat and its done. Its so great for our skin I would love to get a big bed going of it. We will see!

I really want to get enough flowers harvested to make soap. Hopefully, they all grow and do well and I can find room and pots for them all! Hope you have good luck with yours.

Looks like they are off to a great start, and how nice to be able to stay indoors and not worry about burning up outside!

    Ooo! Calendula makes lovely soap!

I ended up putting my peas in a huge outdoor pot the better to tend them. My poor blueberries shriveled and died……. :P
