I was thrilled when I had a few peaches on my little tree last year, and I was eagerly waiting for this year when I’d actually have enough to do something with them. The tree is loaded with peaches.
With the drought, however, they are not very big.
They look pretty, but I have noticed a few little spots in them.
I decided to pick one and see how they were.
It is okay, but not near as sweet as last year. Hopefully, I’ll get enough to freeze a couple of quarts because I absolutely love my peach pie cake. I guess I’ll eagerly wait until next year for that bumper crop.
Linking to SOOC Sunday.

I love peaches – can’t wait for our summer so I can have them with my breakfast! Your photographs showing the story from tree to mouth
) are great. Beautiful colour and detail.
Jul 14, 2012 @ 19:13:37
Thanks. I think there are quite a few that are about ready to pick.
Jul 14, 2012 @ 17:45:46
Those are some really nice looking peaches, makes my mouth water looking at them. Ellen from Georgia
Jul 14, 2012 @ 19:13:53
Thanks. Other than being small, they do look pretty good.
Jul 14, 2012 @ 17:46:50
Yum. And they are nicely goat-sized.
Jul 14, 2012 @ 19:14:21
Yes, I’m sure there are some goats that are eying them.
Jul 14, 2012 @ 18:12:13
They look good and juicy!
Jul 14, 2012 @ 19:15:48
I’ve been watering them, so they should be juicy.
Jul 14, 2012 @ 18:19:32
With the drought and all you are very lucky to have them – I hope you get enough!
Jul 14, 2012 @ 19:16:25
I started watering it a while ago because the tree was really starting to look stressed.
Jul 14, 2012 @ 18:40:52
i’m glad you’re getting some this year!
Jul 14, 2012 @ 19:16:37
They’re little, but I do have quite a few!
Jul 14, 2012 @ 18:52:36
The raccoons and birds ate every single one of our cherries so I’m keeping an eye on the plums. We don’t have peach trees, but seeing that peach made me long for a nice big sweet and juicy peach. Tomorrow at the farmers’ market!
Jul 14, 2012 @ 19:17:51
It has taken me a long time to get a peach tree to grow. I am excited to have it! I just didn’t get to my cherries this year because I was so busy with the goats. I’m hoping to get a few plums too.
Jul 14, 2012 @ 19:05:36
Your peaches look great! Here the bugs go bonkers on them, I think yours look super! A few blemishes is no biggy right :O)
Jul 14, 2012 @ 19:18:25
I am happy to see them looking that good. If they were twice as big, I’d be really happy!
Jul 14, 2012 @ 21:56:23
Peaches! Yum! I have teeny tiny peaches from an ornamental peach tree. But it is loaded, and I may just have to try my hand at peach butter or jelly or something
I need to check out your peach pie cake recipe!
Jul 14, 2012 @ 22:03:32
That cake recipe is definitely a keeper. I love jam also.
Jul 14, 2012 @ 22:20:40
They might not be super sweet…but they sure look good! I just love fresh peaches!
Jul 14, 2012 @ 22:43:47
They are one of my favorite fruits~jam, pie, anything peach! They will be good baked in something. I just need to dig out my ladder and try to pick them without killing myself.
Jul 15, 2012 @ 00:47:04
I think they look great too. I am hoping maybe for a few from my tree next year
Jul 15, 2012 @ 08:29:15
Isn’t it exciting when they finally get big enough to produce! My cherry tree actually had quite a few this year too, but I missed them because of kidding.
Jul 15, 2012 @ 09:40:25
I absolutely love your Peach Pie Cake too! I’ve been wanting to make it for the past couple of weeks but didn’t have any peaches!
To get bigger fruit, I was told you have to thin out about 1/3 when they are small and the remaining peaches will grow bigger. It is hard to do but it does work!
Jul 15, 2012 @ 09:42:07
Thanks for that advice. I figured it was the lack of water since they are all that way, even the ones by themselves. I’ll certainly do that next year!
Jul 15, 2012 @ 12:01:18
Looks good, even if a bit small. Our very early spring, then the freeze after all the trees bloomed killed any chance of any kind of fruit for us this summer.
Jul 15, 2012 @ 13:00:58
Sorry to hear you won’t have any fruit. I was worried about our frost too, but only the plum tree seems to have been affected by it. I still have a few plums.
Jul 15, 2012 @ 12:08:34
so great to have your own peaches. Looks very tasty.
Jul 15, 2012 @ 13:02:09
I am excited. It took me several tries before I got a peach tree to live.
Jul 15, 2012 @ 13:34:01
I LOVE peaches, but I can never find that perfect ripe one. Even if I go to the farmer’s market, they’re never just right; either too hard or too mushy. Hope you get some good ones to make that cake. Sounds divine!
Jul 15, 2012 @ 14:05:50
I think I’ll try and pick today or tomorrow and hope for a bunch of those perfect ones! Thanks for stopping by.
Jul 16, 2012 @ 08:35:37
I just love the smell of ripe juicy peaches
Jul 16, 2012 @ 08:41:12
They are wonderful!
