Peaches

I was thrilled when I had a few peaches on my little tree last year, and I was eagerly waiting for this year when I’d actually have enough to do something with them.  The tree is loaded with peaches.

With the drought, however, they are not very big.

They look pretty, but I have noticed a few little spots in them.

I decided to pick one and see how they were.

It is okay, but not near as sweet as last year.  Hopefully, I’ll get enough to freeze a couple of quarts because I absolutely love my peach pie cake.  I guess I’ll eagerly wait until next year for that bumper crop.

The raccoons and birds ate every single one of our cherries so I’m keeping an eye on the plums. We don’t have peach trees, but seeing that peach made me long for a nice big sweet and juicy peach. Tomorrow at the farmers’ market!

It has taken me a long time to get a peach tree to grow. I am excited to have it! I just didn’t get to my cherries this year because I was so busy with the goats. I’m hoping to get a few plums too.

Peaches! Yum! I have teeny tiny peaches from an ornamental peach tree. But it is loaded, and I may just have to try my hand at peach butter or jelly or something :) I need to check out your peach pie cake recipe!

They are one of my favorite fruits~jam, pie, anything peach! They will be good baked in something. I just need to dig out my ladder and try to pick them without killing myself. :-)

Isn’t it exciting when they finally get big enough to produce! My cherry tree actually had quite a few this year too, but I missed them because of kidding.

I absolutely love your Peach Pie Cake too! I’ve been wanting to make it for the past couple of weeks but didn’t have any peaches! :)
To get bigger fruit, I was told you have to thin out about 1/3 when they are small and the remaining peaches will grow bigger. It is hard to do but it does work!

Thanks for that advice. I figured it was the lack of water since they are all that way, even the ones by themselves. I’ll certainly do that next year!

Looks good, even if a bit small. Our very early spring, then the freeze after all the trees bloomed killed any chance of any kind of fruit for us this summer.

Sorry to hear you won’t have any fruit. I was worried about our frost too, but only the plum tree seems to have been affected by it. I still have a few plums.

I LOVE peaches, but I can never find that perfect ripe one. Even if I go to the farmer’s market, they’re never just right; either too hard or too mushy. Hope you get some good ones to make that cake. Sounds divine!
