Dancing Already

I keep reading about how our weird weather has Nature all confused.  Today, I have my own example of how the overly warm temperatures are affecting the animals here.

My peacock seems confused.  He’s growing out his tail feathers just they way he is supposed to.

I love those beautiful eyes and fringes.

After losing them all at the end of August, they’ve completely grown back out.

Does she look impressed with his tail?

This is what I expect from the peafowl this time of year~just hanging out.

For some reason, he decided to start dancing for the girls today.

He usually isn’t interested in attracting their attention until the end of March or April.

He was certainly fluttering those wings

and shaking those long tail feathers.

Early or not, he is beautiful!

I just hope they don’t try to lay eggs and sit on a nest already.

I guess I won’t complain too much about him dancing because he is gorgeous! I can always steal eggs to keep the girls from sitting if I have to.

Oh dear! It’s way too early for him to be thinking what we think he’s thinking. :)

He’s a guy. I think he’s thinking about it from the time his tail feathers start growing in. He just doesn’t usually act on those thoughts this early.

He was so busy dancing and watching the girls I could have gone up and played with his fuzzy tail feathers (which I admit I have done before~so soft).

He’s gorgeous! Once I got pecked by a female peacock in a bird park here, when I came too close to photograph it, good thing she didn’t chase after me, when we both went in different direction after I screamed!! kekekke

They are attracted to shiny things~rings, cameras, etc. They are beautiful, but not too smart. Mine usually just try to avoid people.

Crazy. We saw a flock of Robins here in NH last week… not sure if they’re early returns or late departures. A ruffed grouse was displaying for a female on our front lawn – in the snow. And a friend’s heritage turkeys are all in full strut as well.

Wondering if/when Winter’s other shoe will hit – I think our last big snowstorm in 2011 was April 1st.

I’m sorry, but I just had to laugh at that first back shot. He is so magnificent and then you see those skinny white legs that look like an old man with long socks on. :)

Thank you. I love the back side~those fuzzy butt feathers just amaze me. The wing color will vary depending on what variety of peafowl it is. They really have a whole rainbow of colors.

I can just picture him perched on top of you head with the tail trailing down your back. It would be great until the great plop down your backside. :-)

    Such a beautiful creature!
My mother always told me that a robin is the first sign of spring. A couple of weeks ago, I saw one on my fence. A few days later, I saw about 15 of them snacking on some bushes while I was out and about! What a strange winter this has been!
