I hate to admit it, but I sometimes worry when I don’t know what my blog post is going to be about. Today, I was even more worried because I left work late, had to get gas, and it’s Friday’s Fences. How on earth would I be able to figure out a post with fences. My fences all look a lot alike, and I’m sure it has to get boring. Luckily I have lots of cute animals to include with my boring fences. I needn’t have worried because when I went out to do chores, the first thing that got my attention was Minnie coming to greet me~on the wrong side of the barnyard.
Well, I went and checked my “fence” between the two sides. Usually, the door below is open, but I have some girls I don’t want on the same side as Boeris. I wired the cattle panel across the doorway, but I’m guessing someone caught a horn and broke my wire. It was loose on the right hand side.
Boeris is a boy, and some of the girls should not be near him because they do not need to have kids.
Of course, those are the girls that were on the wrong side. After putting Minnie back where she belonged, I found Cookie and Casey on the wrong side. I returned them to where they belong, but they were back out before I was. I grabbed my wire and cutters and refastened the panel. Then Cookie stayed where she belongs and was happy eating with her maa, Scarlet.
Casey was a sassy guy, “Would ya leave me alone? I’m eatin’ here.” I have to say I really love this little stinker.
Then I discovered Stormy. I hadn’t seen her before. I’m not sure if she had been out all along or if she followed Casey and Cookie as they came out the second time.
Stormy and I were walking through the chicken pen and barn because that’s the only way in there since I wired the panel back in place. Suddenly, Naughty Rooster Boy decided to attack. Now, I try to be minimal in catching him as he attacks and just meeting him with my foot so he falls down. My aim has been off. I feel bad because I’ve ended up kicking him when I miss. Tonight, I missed catching him. It was probably because I was leading Stormy who was in a panic because she’s very shy and nervous and I was yelling, “Stop it! Get away! Leave me alone!”
Anyhow, I missed and he got me. He even drew blood. Dang NAUGHTY rooster. It wasn’t a mortal wound, though, so I continued through the building and returned Stormy to her proper side. Then I saw Sallie. She was supposed to be with Boeris. I grabbed her and back through the chicken building we went. I must say, I did take a small wicked delight when out of the corner of my eye I saw the big colorful peacock bounce on top of Naughty Rooster Boy.
Ordinarily I frown on such behavior. I much prefer inter-species friendships, but tonight, I felt a little wicked glee at the sight. He might not be a knight in shining armor, but for tonight he was my hero. Plus he’s colorful, which is this week’s theme for You Capture.
Finally I got chores finished and everyone was kind of settling down, so I got my camera and started taking pictures (using my new flash). Sallie looks a bit disappointed that I fixed the fence.
Now why on earth was I worried about finding something to post for Farmgirl Friday? No problems.

so true! you have tons of material – all on the wrong side of some fence!
Jan 26, 2012 @ 19:27:54
When people talk about not know what to post about, I just smile. There are some things I planned to post about, but they keep getting pushed back.
Jan 26, 2012 @ 19:52:02
Loved your pics but even more your wonderful prose!
Lovely post Teresa!

Jan 26, 2012 @ 20:31:14
The fence is functional, at least most of the time. Thanks for stopping by.
Jan 26, 2012 @ 20:27:45
I think I would be very happy as one of your goats. I love to read your posts as you give us stories about your babies. You always make my day. genie
Jan 26, 2012 @ 20:32:07
Glad you enjoy your visits. I’m hoping the goats are also happy with their lives here.
Jan 26, 2012 @ 20:34:39
Love the peacock!!!
Jan 26, 2012 @ 20:58:24
He is very beautiful! Thanks for stopping by.
Jan 26, 2012 @ 20:52:37
Well, that wore me out!
and you were worried about having nothing to write about……
Jan 26, 2012 @ 20:59:27
I don’t know why I ever worry about it because they always seem to give me plenty to write on!
It’s never boring around here.
Jan 26, 2012 @ 21:28:29
I was here :O), I didnt get to see most of your photos, I am having a terrible time with blogger right now. I think at times it my Internet connection then I think its my browser, then I think its blogger. I am not sure what the heck is going on!
Jan 26, 2012 @ 21:51:46
Isn’t technology great when it works! I’ve been swearing at my Internet off and on for a few months and am thinking about changing providers. I don’t know if it would help, but I think it should.
Jan 26, 2012 @ 22:02:08
I’m pretty sure that there is always something going on in the farmyard at your place. I got a kick out of your need for 5 arms and 5 legs to get all those critters back where they belong. I love Millie – she is such a lady.
Jan 26, 2012 @ 22:18:55
Most of them really are very cooperative. If only they didn’t think it was so much fun to fight with the fences between them.
Jan 26, 2012 @ 22:08:01
So…Naughty Rooster Boy just got another name…VERY Naught Rooster Boy! I’d have been right there with you, secretly happy to see him get put in his place.
Jan 26, 2012 @ 22:20:08
I just hate that we’re going through this again. He was doing so well when we didn’t have any other roosters.
Jan 26, 2012 @ 23:07:33
With a barn yard full of animals, I don’t think you would ever run out of posts. So…do I need a peacock to protect me from my rooster who goes out of his way every chance he gets to attack me? It is kind of a tempting idea!
Jan 27, 2012 @ 06:14:26
The peacock just picks on him whenever it suits his fancy. I do have a goat or two that will protect me.
Jan 27, 2012 @ 00:38:24
Teresa,
I had the most fun (reading your post and viewing your beautiful animals) that I have had all day! Thank you. What a lively bunch. Thank you for sharing. I am still smiling.
Jan 27, 2012 @ 06:14:54
I am glad we could put a smile on your face. We do have a lot of adventures here!
Jan 27, 2012 @ 00:39:36
Wow. You definitely have your hands full! Your peacocks are lovely. And the goats — just too cute
Jan 27, 2012 @ 06:15:35
Thanks. They usually are pretty well behaved. I usually figure it’s my fault for forgetting to wire it more tightly or something when they get out.
Jan 27, 2012 @ 01:07:21
What a gorgeous peacock! His blue is just so vivid! A wonderful story too…looking forward to reading more!
Jan 27, 2012 @ 06:16:10
Thanks. I keep hoping it will be boring and I’ll only have a pretty picture to post, but we seem to always be full of adventure!
Jan 27, 2012 @ 06:54:04
Never a dull moment, is there Teresa! Laughing at NRB’s getting his payback from the peacock.
Jan 27, 2012 @ 07:08:24
It always seems to work out somehow!
Jan 27, 2012 @ 07:49:15
Never a dull moment! LOL!! Casey is certainly giving you “the look!”
I sure hope NRB settles back down when you get rid of the extra roosters. YAY for the peacock!
Jan 27, 2012 @ 08:25:35
I just hope I can make it another month or so until spring really is close and it will be easier for the young roosters to free range.
Jan 27, 2012 @ 09:00:30
Never a dull moment…
Jan 27, 2012 @ 10:42:36
That is for sure!
Jan 27, 2012 @ 10:42:41
YOu really have your hands full! Delightful post!
Jan 27, 2012 @ 13:35:05
Thanks. They do keep me busy, sometimes moreso than I think is necessary.
Jan 27, 2012 @ 11:31:51
Go Peacock boy!
Jan 27, 2012 @ 12:25:13
He certainly does deserve a piece of bread or lettuce or something for his help!
Jan 27, 2012 @ 20:33:07
Looks like they would love to be out and about from that fence!
Jan 27, 2012 @ 20:38:31
They manage to do it frequently. Ornery goats.
Jan 29, 2012 @ 19:37:11
I always enjoy your animals photos! Thanks for sharing!
Jan 29, 2012 @ 19:44:28
Thanks. I do love sharing my animals with everyone.
