When I was running around yesterday with the hay and mowing and gardens and stuff, I spotted a red-headed woodpecker.
I think they are very striking, beautiful birds.

Wow! How do you get here so fast? I used to have a pair that lived right in my front yard, but one was hit by a car, and I haven’t seen any around since then.

The post turned out better than the bird in the pictures! I had it on the wrong setting, and didn’t take the time to change when I noticed him. (Oops.)

I finally get to see the red-headed woodpecker! We have pileated and red-bellied here but I haven’t seen a red-headed (although the red-bellies have red head too but not quite as red as the red-headed!). Thanks for sharing!
